Located high in the Bradshaw Mountains, Crown King has a reputation for being a little out there… both in the intriguing events that make up much of the town’s energy and in the rugged roads you’ll need to take to get up to it. Crown King has become a major focal point for off-roading over the years, both for the breathtaking trails around it and the worthwhile stay in town once you’re back from a day trip.

The Old Crown King Trail, otherwise known as the Backway to Crown King, is both a fairly challenging and busy trail that takes a 27.3 mile trip from hot desert up into the cool mountains. If your vehicle has the clearance and power to make it, you’ll be graced by wonderful scenery all the way up— and a rewarding stop in Crown King as a turn around point or a pleasant stop at the end of the day.
