Sheep’s Bridge ATVing
North of Carefree, past Horseshoe Reservoir and up the Verde River is Sheep’s Bridge, a replica suspension bridge replacing an older one that used to exist for sheep driving across the Verde River. The landmark and the river below makes for a great destination point on an out-and-back trip.
The drive is doable for drivers of all skill levels, all you need is a vehicle with some higher clearance. However, you’ll need to take things a bit slow as you approach the bridge itself because the trail gets pretty rocky. Along the way, you’ll have lots of beautiful desert scenery to admire— and especially when you reach the bridge itself. Stop for a cool break by the water, just be sure to come by on the weekdays since this spot is fairly popular on the weekends.
