Ashurst Lake Kayaking
Just 20 miles southeast of Flagstaff, this lake stands out amongst others in Arizona. While it’s fairly shallow as far as lakes go, Ashurst has gained a reputation for holding its water well even through drought and long dry spells. Additionally, this is one of Arizona’s few truly natural lakes instead of being a man made reservoir.
The natural background to its nature extends to its surroundings, as Ashurst is surrounded by beautiful northern Arizona greenery with a grand view of the San Francisco mountains towering to the north. Ashurst Lake is regularly stocked with trout and has open campgrounds to enjoy, adding to the ways you can enjoy a kayak paddle around the water.
