Knoll Lake Kayaking

This secluded forest lake gets its name from a picturesque island that rests at its center. While surrounded by pines and rocky scenery much like the nearby Blue Ridge Reservoir, Knoll Lake provides a different sort of experience. A longer drive down forest roads means you won’t have the same busy traffic as other lakes, and watercraft are still restricted to manpower or motors under 10 horsepower.

While much of the shore is rocky, an island to pull up on and tempting grassy areas provide plenty of spots to stop at for a either a day trip or dispersed camping— and a well maintained campground is available near the boat ramp if you’re just looking for some easier camping after a relaxing day on the water.
