White Mountains Weekend Getaway

Sprawling under the vast, 11,400 foot tall Mount Baldy, the White Mountains stretch across eastern Arizona near the border with New Mexico. The communities in and around the mountains (such as Pinetop-Lakeside, Greer, Springerville, Eagar, and the Fort Apache Indian Reservation) enjoy an outdoor, recreational paradise invigorated by clean air, plentiful lakes, and lush ponderosa forest.

In the White Mountains there are activities for every season and time of day. The beautiful wilderness provides in the way of hiking, backpacking, camping, and riding on either horse or ATV. In the lakes and streams, fishing and either canoeing or kayaking are relaxing ways to spend your time. When winter and snowfall arrive, the mountains turn into a wide resort for skiing both downhill or cross country.

For those not feeling the greater outdoors, there’s a wealth of things to do closer to the resorts as well in the way of golfing, touring historic locations, and casino gambling. If you’re simply seeking a good meal and a warm bed after a full day in the mountains though, the area has many places to dine and reserve a room for any trip duration.
