Cape Royal Trail Hiking

Extending far out from the North Rim, Cape Royal forms a cliffed peninsula that provides more of the Grand Canyon’s intoxicating scenery to visitors. The trail along Cape Royal is an easy mile nature walk, another perfect spot to hit up if you’re just looking to relax your feet and enjoy what’s all around.

An excess of wildflowers coat the sides of this trail during flowering months, and markets posted next to the trail tell of the area’s natural history. Aim for taking this trail during sunrise or sunset, as the exquisite lighting will blend whole new colors and a fresh outlook on the unique views that Capre Royal provides. If you look carefully you’ll spot a number of Grand Canyon sights, such as the Desert View Watchtower far to the south or a well framed bend of the Colorado River deep below.
